How to get Briony on a private number plate

How can I get a name like Briony (or Bryony) on a private number plate?

Well, actually it's not as difficult as you might think!

Many names lend themselves really well to private number plates in the UK. Naturally, 3-letter shortened names are easy... there are loads of these and we see them everywhere. But a name like Briony may not be so easy to get on a number plate... or so you might think.

Admittedly, there won't be many options... unless you shorten Briony to BRY... in which case there are dozens around.

But if you're after the full name Briony, then choices are limited to a very small number. Like registration number BR10 NYT. The letter I is always difficult in a UK number plate, but the number 10 in the middle are a perfect substitute for the letters "IO". There's no need to squint to work that one out! Be warned though... good private number plates don't come cheap.

The limiting factor is that you will only be able to transfer this registration number to a vehicle registered on or after 1st March 2010. So if your car is a bit older than that, you won't be able to use it. That's because it contains the number 10 in the middle, which dates this current style number plate to 2010, and you cannot use a number plate that would make a vehicle appear to be newer than it is.
