Private number plates can be transferred between mainland UK and Northern Ireland.
If the private number plate is held on a DVLA V750 Certificate of Entitlement or a V778 Retention Document, it cannot be transferred direct to a car registered in Northern Ireland. Two transfers are needed.
First it has to be transferred to a car on mainland GB, then across the car that's registered in Northern Ireland.
