Commission based and Paid Service Sales: Terms and Conditions
 
By asking us to advertise your registration mark, you agree to the terms as laid out below.

Terms used in this agreement

For the purposes of this agreement the terms ‘you’, ‘your’, and ‘customer’ refer to the account holder.

The terms ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘the website’, and ‘theplatemarket.com’ refer to The Plate Market Ltd.

The term ‘account’ refers to the facility provided by theplatemarket.com which enables you to advertise your personal registrations numbers for sale or to take advantage of other services available, and where all your personal details are stored.

Selling a registration mark

 
  1. The seller permits The Plate Market Ltd to advertise the registration mark (on www.theplatemarket.com and via other publications or websites at its discretion).
  2. Commission fees will be advised in writing (prior to advertising), and all details be confirmed electronically.
  3. By requesting the registration mark to be advertised, it is deemed that the seller has accepted the Terms as detailed here. It is the seller's responsibility to advise The Plate Market Ltd of any issues regarding the Terms.
  4. The seller is required to provide proof of ownership before the registration mark will be advertised. This must be in the form of a copy of either a valid V778 Retention Document, or V750 Certificate of Entitlement, or V5 log book (if currently on a vehicle).
  5. Offers will be forwarded to the seller by The Plate Market Ltd. The final selling price will be in agreement with the seller. The price payable to the seller will be the final agreed selling price, minus the commission fee agreed. Note: the final agreed selling price may be less than the initial asking price.
  6. On agreement of a sale, the seller grants permission to The Plate Market Ltd to transfer the rights of the registration number to the buyer.
  7. The seller is not required to pay the DVLA fee to transfer the registration number to the purchaser. However, the seller is responsible for fees for Retention of the registration number (if applicable) prior to sale, and the supply and fitting of replacement number plates to the donor vehicle once the transfer has been approved.
  8. If the registration number is held on a V778 Retention Document or V750 Certificate of Entitlement, it is the seller’s responsibility to ensure this is renewed prior to expiry.
  9. If the registration mark is on a vehicle at the time of the sale, the DVLA may ask to inspect the vehicle on application to transfer it. It is the seller’s responsibility to make the vehicle is available for inspection. If this is required, the DVLA will contact the owner direct.
  10. Once a sale has been agreed (i.e. part or full payment has been taken from the purchaser), The Plate Market Ltd will be responsible for application of the transfer of the registration mark to the purchaser. The Plate Market Ltd will endeavour to complete all transfers as quickly as possible. However, The Plate Market Ltd will not be held responsible for any losses caused as a result of delays to the transfer process due to either the buyer or seller delaying the sending of documents to us, or delays at the DVLA. Nor will The Plate Market Ltd be held responsible for any losses caused as a result of the buyer withdrawing from the sale.
  11. The seller must inform The Plate Market Ltd (before a buyer is found) should the registration number be withdrawn from sale for any reason. This should be in writing, by recorded delivery. Allow 7 days for notification to be received. If a buyer is found before the seller has informed The Plate Market Ltd, an admin fee of £100+vat will be payable.
  12. Should the seller withdraw after a sale has been agreed, the full agreed commission fee will become payable.
  13. To enable completion of the sale of the registration mark The Plate Market Ltd will request the vehicle documents (if registration mark is on a vehicle) or the V778 / V750 as appropriate.
  14. Payment will be made to the seller (minus agreed commission fee) once the sale has been completed, and the registration mark has been transferred to the purchaser, as approved by the DVLA.
  15. Note that The Plate Market Ltd cannot guarantee a time period for the sale of a registration mark, or the final selling price achieved. A sale will be deemed to have been achieved on agreement of the final selling price with the seller.
  16. The Plate Market Ltd will not be held responsible for time taken for the DVLA to complete an application to transfer, or any changes to the rules of the Cherished Transfer Scheme.
  17. The payment as agreed, shall be payable to the seller upon approval of the transfer by DVLA, Swansea.
