Can I part exchange my private number plate?

I have a private number plate. Can part exchange it for another one?

In a very few cases we may make an offer to part exchange for a private number plate you have, as part of your purchase. This is likely to be a dateless number plate or one that has a clear name (like BEN or JOE). It's unlikely we would consider one with initials. If you'd like to ask us,then please send us a message.

Make sure you include in your message:

Registration number you wish to purchase
Registration number you currently own
How much you would like in part exchange
Whether your registration number is on a vehicle (with valid MoT and tax) or on a Certificate.

Please note: you must be the person who has the rights to sell the registration number.

Unfortunately, we are not able to make an offer to buy or part-exchange on all private number plates. We will respond to your request as quickly as we can.

Any offer that we do make are subject to seller terms and conditions. Offers are time-limited and this will be clearly stated on the part-exchange documentation.

What kind of number plates might be accepted in part-exchange?

Generally we will consider dateless registrations, some Northern Ireland numbers, and those with a clear name. You can find out a bit more about the different types of personalised number plates to give you an idea.

What can I do if there's no part-exchange on offer?

We can still advertise your registration number for you. Our Managed service is on a no-sale-no-fee basis. Just let us know that's what you'd like to do. We'll have yur registration number advertised within a few hours.
