Can I scrap my car before selling my number plate?
Yes you can. BUT you must apply to retain the private number plate first. It normally takes the DVLA to process your application. You should not scrap the car until you have received confirmation that the retention has been successful. You cannot apply after the car has been scrapped, even if you still have the V5C Registration Document.
