My V5C says the registration number is non-transferable. Can I still buy a personalised number plate for it?

My V5C Registration Document has "non transferable" next to the car registration number. What does that mean?

The “non-transferable” refers to the registration number that is currently on the car. It means you cannot sell that particular registration number or transfer it to another vehicle.

But... you can transfer a private number plate to that car. And it doesn't stop you moving the private registration number to another car in the future.
